3 Ways Astrology Is An Effective Approach To Improving Your Self-Care Routine

Astrology is one of those hot topics that everyone knows at least a little something about. Most people already know what their own Zodiac sign is - whether they believe it or not. There are a lot of different perspectives and interpretations when it comes to astrology. Some people interpret it in more of a witchy way (like me), while others might take more of a mathematical approach. Most don’t go as deep and simply interpret it based on how accurately their sign represents them (a more personal interpretation).

No matter how deep you want to dive into astrology, it’s a great tool to get to know yourself, your tendencies, and your needs better. And if you want to make the most out of it, take advantage of the things astrology teaches you by using it as a guide to advance and improve your personal self-care routine.

Your Zodiac sign and your identity

As I mentioned, you can learn more about yourself and your personal traits and tendencies through your sign. If you want to go one step further, you can also figure out your “Zodiac Big Three,” aka your sun, moon, and rising signs. I won’t go into how to figure this out, but you can hop on Google and calculate yours for free on literally any astrology website. 10/10 recommend doing this for yourself!

If you thought your regular sign was scary-accurate, wait until you learn more about your Big Three. You might learn new things about yourself. Or maybe that one trait you have that you just don’t understand, will all make sense now.

The parts of us that we don’t understand, tend to scare us as humans. But, you’ll start to realize how your specific sign traits show through your personality and make up different parts of who you are. You may feel more in tune and confident in your identity after learning more about who you are. Embrace those characteristics!

Using your sign traits to personalize your self-care

After you learn more about your traits through your signs, you can also figure out more of your strengths (and weaknesses) based on these traits. You can then find specific self-care techniques that play to those. Your needs may be different than you originally thought. Use this to your advantage to figure out where you were lacking in your self-care, mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Then start filling in the gaps with your newfound knowledge. You can even look up some of the ways to nurture yourself online based on your signs to get ideas.

What you need is different from what someone else may need. There’s not a one-size-all fits all approach to self-care, nor is there a “perfect” self-care routine. There are definitely practices that everyone should attempt to implement in their lives, but that doesn’t mean they will be the most effective tactic for everyone. That’s why your self-care should be personalized. And your traits based on your signs are a great starting point when it comes to testing out a new routine.

Astrology is a unique approach to self-care

Maybe you believe everything about astrology, zodiac signs, or horoscopes, or maybe you’re more wary of this stuff - it’s okay if you don’t believe all of it (or any of it). But, even if you don’t necessarily believe in it, using this approach once in a while not only helps you take a different approach to test new self-care practices, but it also opens up your imagination. It allows you to find more creative ways to care for yourself - ways that you may not have tried otherwise. And, who knows? You may just find a practice that you never even thought of, or even thought would NEVER work, that DOES work!

Using astrology as an approach to self-care forces you to think of more creative solutions. As mentioned in my blog, “4 Benefits of Using Creative Expression as an Emotional Outlet”, creativity has a positive impact on mental health in more ways than one.

Using astrology can be a rare and valuable take on self-care because it allows you to be more open-minded with your wellness and the specific practices you choose to use. It’s a great avenue to help you learn more about yourself and your identity - thus leading you to understand your needs better. This will lead you to find more effective self-care strategies to nurture your physical, mental, and emotional health.
